Team Black wins Coed Softball Championship

Congratulations to Team Black in its dramatic win in the Canyon Lake Coed Softball championship tournament.

According to League President John Stepanek, it took two extra innings for Team Black to beat Team Rehab to take home “the belt” and get bragging rights until Coed Softball’s next season starts in late August.

It was a marathon day, starting at 8 a.m. and ending at about 7:30 p.m. All 10 teams participated and “had a blast,” according to John. He says the league provided donuts and breakfast burritos for the early games, then pizza and snacks for the afternoon.

“Many teams brought items to share, and all had a fun and fair experience,” says John. “Big thanks to John Rojas for umpiring all the games and keeping things moving along.”

Canyon Lake Coed plays two seasons each year and provides an opportunity for Canyon Lakers to get out in the fresh air and enjoy softball.

While competitive, there is a place for all levels of players who wish to participate. Everyone is welcome to watch the games, relax and make new friends.

Those interested in participating on a team or who would like to put together a team of 10 to 18 friends are invited to contact John at jestepanek@gmail.com.
