The Friday Flyer invited children of all ages to think of something their dad does (or did) very well or something their dad taught them. Children mostly responded by e-mail, but a few were questioned at Taco Tuesday.
Sons Austin and Parker Hicks say, “Our dad is a hard worker and great provider. He has always been a great example for us.”
Leslie Norris Winegar says her dad has always been a very hard working, humble man. She says her father has shown her what having a strong work ethic will do to build character. “Sure my Dad is also handsome, smart, hilarious and the friend that everyone wants to have. So I suppose the most valuable life lesson my Dad provided to me is about having a good character, strong work ethic and always know how to make people laugh. If I could be half the person he is, I will have achieved greatness! I love you more than words can express, Dad! You are my best friend!” Alexa Manning says her dad can really talk to her well; that he understands her. “He shares with me and makes me feel very special. I believe he is my biggest fan, and I am his biggest fan. I love my daddy more than the world. Alexa says her father taught her to love music and to believe that she can be a musician in the future. “We are both singers, and he just got me a new guitar. He teaches me to keep on trying if something is important to me.” Kym West says her dad is a strong man with a great sense of humor. “He’s a wonderful father and grandfather. When my dad puts his mind to something, he’s that best at everything he does! From fixing cars to building a complex projects he’s the best. Love you Dad!”
Step-kids Lauren, Lacey, Landon and Rigo, and step-grandchildren Shay, Rilee, Marley and Bentley say their dad, or “stad,” aka “Opa” is probably one of the coolest guys they know. “Although we weren’t the easiest kids to raise, he has been there for us for over 27 years! We want him to know this Father’s Day how much we love and appreciate him for not only taking care of us, but also for taking great care of our mom for so many years. Who knows where we would be without him.
We love you Opa! Dylan Grahamsays, “My dad has taught me how a motorcycle can put a smile on my face when I ride it.”[/column] Kayla Clark says her father has taught her to put her signature on absolutely everything she does. It is a tactic army rangers use when doing a job or task. “Thank you, Dad, for being the extra push and, most of the time, a drill sergeant to aid in my success all the way up to senior year. I think basic will be quite easy. You have been my number one supporter! Happy Father’s Day. I love you!”
Marjorie Jennings says her dad has taught her so many things, it is hard to pick just one. “Probably the most important thing I have learned from him is how to be a good parent. Not only did he attend all of my swim meets and flag competitions (hours of sitting to see a minute or two of action), he has stuck with me through my “terrible teens” and difficult life issues. No matter what, I knew (and know) that he would always be there to support me. What a strong foundation I had to start my life and what a wonderful example of how a parent should be. I am incredibly blessed to have him as my dad. Happy Fathers Day, Daddy! I love you!” The sisters were enjoying Taco Tuesday with their dad when approached by The Friday Flyer. Michelle Simons and Tina Paulson agreed that their dad had been an excellent example for them of what a man, husband and father should be. “He set the bar very high as to the type of man we should be with in our lives!” Mark and Trevor Novins spend as much time together as possible. Mark says he loves “the whole experience” about being a dad and supports Trevor in everything he does. When asked for something his dad taught him, Trevor, who couldn’t come up with only one answer, said, “He’s really good at being a dad.”

Megan Thomas says her father has taught her to live her life to the fullest and enjoy every second that in this beautiful world. “He is one of the strongest people I know. I would like to share a bit about his remarkable story. Not only has he dedicated his life to saving others as a fireman and paramedic, but he has also survived cancer. What is especially unique about his case is that he treated it on his own, through diet. He did not give in to surgeries or other recommendations by doctors, but did it his own way. He researched extensively and found his own cure, which I believe the world should know about. He is an inspiration to all. Happy Father’s Day, Dad! I love you!”
