Travel Club

The Travel Club’s end-of-summer party and barbecue at the Lodge pool is planned for September 11. Music and live entertainment will be provided by Aprile McKinnon. The club is offering a special price for this event to show gratitude to all the Travel Club members for their support over the years.

The menu will be barbecued ribs and citrus chicken, plus all the fixings at a cost is $38 for members and $43 for guests. The reservation deadline is August 28. Contact Cathy Buell at 951-244-4850.

Del Mar Races is scheduled for Thursday, July 23. Play the ponies! Make your bets! Bus will leave the Lodge at 10:45 a.m. First post is at 2 p.m. The cost is $39 for members and $44 for guests. Space is limited to 40, so make reservations early by contacting Cathy Buell at 951-244-4850.

Tennis Club

The Tennis Club invites residents to come out for Social Play on Mondays and Fridays at 8 a.m. It is open to all levels of players and is a way to meet other players without committing to a schedule. For more information, contact Dave Harrigan at 951-746-3460 or davenjean@canyontennis.net. Canyon Lake Junior Tennis League is on hiatus at this time.

Yacht Club

Meetings of the Yacht Club are held on the fourth Thursday of the month at the Lodge. Boat ownership is not a criterion for membership. Members enjoy fun events throughout the year, including the Moonlight Cruise, Progressive Dinner, Lake Clean-Up and more.

Pinochle Club

New members are welcome to join the Pinochle Club, which plays every Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Senior Center. For more information, call Marlys Shilling at 951-244-4241.

Canyon Lake Association of Men

The Canyon Lake Association of Men (CLAMS) is an organization that has been in existence for the men of Canyon Lake for the last 42 years. CLAMS welcomes men of all ages who would like to participate in activities promoting the Canyon Lake community. Dues are $25 per year. Canyon Lake Association of Women

All Canyon Lake women are invited to attend the Canyon Lake Association of Women (CLAWS) group bunco on the second Wednesday of the month in the Magnolia Room, downstairs at the Country Club. The cost is $10 per player. Participants are asked to bring canned and packaged food for the community cupboard. Game begins at 3 p.m., please arrive 15 mins early to pick up game card and sign in. Women’s Golf Jack and Jill

The Canyon Lake Women’s Golf Club is sponsoring a Jack and Jill Tournament on July 11. “Play for Fun Under the Desert Sun” is open to all golf clubs in Canyon Lake – Men’s Golf, Family Golf and 9ers Golf are invited to join the ladies for golf and lunch. The tournament will be a shotgun start with a format of “2 Best Balls of the Foursome, 1 man and 1 woman.” Payouts will be for both gross and net winners. The cost of the event is $35. Sign up in the Golf Pro Shop.

After Lunch Bunch

From now until October the first tee time will be 8:30 a.m., with signups between 7:15 and 8. This allows everyone to finish the course before it gets too hot.

Twenty-four golfers showed up last Friday for the Four Man Tin Whistle. Results were as follows;

1st: Jim Magill, Bob Stinson, Fran Pothier and Norm Morrissette, 82

2nd: Hal Stiffler, Roger Kielty, Joe Washle and Bob Clow, 76

Skins winners were Ed Doidge, Roger Kielty, Joe Washle, Chuck Hudson and Norm Morrissette. Next week’s format will be Individual Tin Whistle, pick your own foursome.

The After Lunch Bunch’s weekly game is open to all Canyon Lakers with an established handicap. The “Bunch” plays every Friday. Signups take place between 7:15 and 8 a.m. on Friday mornings in the Magnolia Room, or by phone at 249-4565 or 237-6102. The entry fee is $5; the optional skins game is $5.

Roadrunners

Roadrunners RV Club dinner meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month. Social hour begins at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6. In addition to the dinner meetings, the group takes between six and eight trips per year. For more information about Roadrunners or the trips, contact Robb Smith at 244-3168 or RobbS44090@aol.com.

Bible Club

The Canyon Lake Bible Club meets on Thursday evenings, at 7 p.m. at Canyon Lake Community Church, facilitated by Richard Cunha.

Bosom Buddies

The Bosom Buddies mission is to educate, inspire and support newly diagnosed breast cancer patients during their breast cancer journey. Fitness and Triathlon Club

Car Club

The Car Club holds meetings the first Thursday of each month at the Lodge. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the general meeting at 6:30. Learn about upcoming events, listen to guest speakers and share automotive experiences. Finger foods will be served and a 50/50 drawing will round out the evening. Twirler Square Dance Club

The Twirlers meet on Wednesday evenings in the Holiday Bay Room at the Lodge. There is a workshop for experienced dancers from 6:15 to 7 p.m. This is followed by the Twirlers Class from 7 to 9 p.m. with instructor Vic Kaarie. Former dancers are always welcome. Dress is casual. Water Ski Club

Residents interested in joining the Water Ski Club are invited to visit canyonlakeskiclub.com for membership forms, information and news about the club. The club is comprised of skiers of all ages and levels, from beginners to advanced. In addition to having 365 days of access to one of the nicest slalom courses in the country, the club hosts several ski competitions and community events, including Breakfast with Santa, Polar Bear Day, Learn to Ski Days and the Fiesta Day Ski Show.

Kids Club

Kids Club meetings are held during the school year on Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., in the Sunset Beach Room at the Lodge. The last meeting of the season is June 6. Kids Club is a program in which young children and their parents or grandparents enjoy a morning of crafts, music, exercise, games, sports and a snack for just $2 per session. Family Matters Club

The Family Matters Club is open to all residents, young and old, kids or no kids. Monthly meetings are held the first day of the month, unless otherwise noted, and revolve around a fun theme with speakers, games, prize drawings, crafts, snack and social time. Locations vary.
