Canyon Lakers named Students of the Year

Two Canyon Lake students, Blake Echt and Bailey Hanson, were recognized as Students of the Year on May 11. They represent Temescal Canyon High School and were among seven Lake Elsinore Unified School District seniors recognized as Students of the Year under the auspices of the Student of the Month program.

Blake Echt, student reporter for The Friday Flyer, has been accepted at UC Irvine, where he plans to major in Mechanical Engineering.

Bailey Hanson has been accepted at Woodbury University, where she plans to major in Fashion Marketing.

The other students are as follows:

Victoria Pitotti, of Elsinore High School, has been accepted at Biola University and will be studying to become a Special Education teacher in a Title I school.

Jose Nato Palma, of EHS, has been accepted at UC Irvine and will major in Biology. Ana Limon, of Lakeside High School, has been accepted at UC Santa Barbara and will study Environmental Science. Vincent Banuelos, of LHS, has been accepted at SDSU and will major in Kinesiology. Katie DeMoraes, of Southern California Online Academy, willattend Montana State and majoring in Industrial Engineering.

Student of the Year honorees were selected from among 52 Student of the Month Program finalists during the 2014-15 school year. This group of seven students is being recognized as the best of the best.

The Student of the Month program was founded by Sally Myers and BMW Management, Inc., in partnership with the Lake Elsinore Valley Chamber of Commerce and LEUSD.
