On March 15, Cub Scout Pack 346 celebrated the anniversary of Boy Scouts with the annual Blue and Gold Dinner. The event celebrates the achievements of the Scouts, pack and leaders from the past year.

At this event, each leader is recognized for service to Dens and the Pack throughout the year. Patti Hosking, along with her husband Mike and her sons Jake and Ryan, were honored for their continued support and involvement in Pack 346 this year. Both Jake and Ryan have served as Den Chiefs for the Pack as Boy Scouts.

Many boys achieved their rank in time to be awarded at the event. The Webelo Rank was achieved by Ryan Brodeur, Hayden Dalton, Ward Hansford and Ben Potter. The Bear Rank was achieved by Bladen Hartley, Zane Zander and Zackary Zander. The Wolf Rank was achieved by Gavin Dalton, Luke Remley, Luke Thomas and Matthew Thomas.

Drake Snyder, who recently joined the Bear Den, completed his Bobcat Trail and was honored with the Bobcat Ceremony.

Pack 346 was honored to receive the “Gold Journey to Excellence Award” for 2014 from Boy Scouts of America. This honor is given to units for excellence in performance in the areas of Planning, Membership, Programming and Leadership. Each scout and leader received a patch to wear on their uniform in honor of the Pack’s achievement.

The Pack is looking forward to ending the year with a few more events including Bottle Rocket Derby, Arrow of Light Ceremony, Campout and Bridging Ceremony. They also plan to march in the Fiesta Day Parade.

At the end-of-the-year Campout, the Scouts will be holding a Flag Retirement Ceremony. Anyone with an American flag in need of retirement is welcome to contact Pack 346 at cubscoutpack346mom@gmail.com. A suggested donation of $5 will go to fund Scout activities and achievements for the remainder of the year.

The recruitment of new scouts for 2015/2016 will begin in June. Cub Scout Pack 346 serves Canyon Lake, Canyon Hills and Tuscany Hills and is for boys in 1st through 5th grade.
