CLMS Cheer, Song and Dance sweep awards at Hemet competition

The Canyon Lake Middle School Cheer, Song and Dance Teams competed at the annual Sharp Cheer and Dance competition in Hemet on February 7 and swept the competition, bringing home four Overall Grand Champion trophies, 17 1st Place trophies and one 2nd Place trophy.

According to Cheer Advisor Tammy Howard, CLMS Cheer placed 1st in their division and 1st overall in the Junior High Cheer division. CLMS Cheer captains, Ashley Warner, Julise Ensign and Chloe Stevens, placed 1st in Cheer Group Trio.

The CLMS Cheer Stunt Group of Treasure Sanchez, Anna Avila, Alex Morteson, Chloe Stevens and Aida Tall placed 1st in their division and 1st in overall Stunt Groups.

CLMS Song placed 1st in their division and 1st for overall Song Teams. CLMS Song Team members are Julise Ensign, Treasure Sanchez, Ashley Warner, Jade Phipps, Lauren Sellers, Chloe Stevens and Karyl Suarez.

CLMS Dance won all 1st place trophies and one 2nd place trophy for group dances, which helped CLMS Dance earn one of the Overall Dance Champion trophies.

Individual winners were:

Best Toe Touches: 1st place Treasure Sanchez and Emma Lewis, 3rd place Anna Avila and Karyl Suarez;

Best Tumbling: 1st place Anna Avila, 3rd place Alex Mortesen;

Best Kicks: 1st place Jade Phipps and Alexa Plasch, 2nd place Anna Avila;

Best Leaps: 1st place Jade Phipps, 2nd place Anna Avila, 3rd place Alex Plasch;

Best Turns: 1st place Chloe Stevens, 2nd place Jade Phipps.
