This year, the theme of the Woman’s Club annual Fashion Show is the “Swingin’ Sixties,” with 1960s-inspired pre-parties leading up to the big event in April. The Woman’s Club would like to invite all Canyon Lake women to enjoy this year’s Fashion show and pre-parties.
Last Friday, women met at the home of Lyne Hall for the second of five pre-parties, “An Evening with Austin Powers and His Lovely Fembots.”
The Temescal Canyon High School Jazz Band was on hand to provide a selection of Cha Cha and Bossa Nova numbers, including “Soul Bossa Nova,” Quincy Jones’ signature tune in the Austin Powers movie.
Lyne’s kitchen was transformed into the “British Chippy” fish and chips shop, manned by her daughter Alise Lawrence (chef for Lyne’s business, Royal Bash), niece Lisa Hall, Woman’s Club member and chef Carmelita Kubota and Bob Templeton. Mike Hall, was the fish fryer and all the ladies on the event committee made British appetizers, individual savory pies and desserts. The bar was turned into “Ye Old Public House, The Crown.”
Another pre-party is being held today, March 6, at 4 p.m. at the home of Tammy Stone.
With the theme, “These Boots Are Made for Walking,” this party is for ladies only; reservations were due last Friday.
The dates and themes of the next pre-parties are as follows:
The Fashion Show will be held at the Lodge on April 24 at 10 a.m. Tickets are $45 per person; there are nine people per table.
