Speeders warned of new enforcement program

Speeders warned of new enforcement program Thanks to an action taken by the POA Board of Directors in July, Canyon Lakers will notice increased enforcement of the community’s speed limit in the months ahead.
According to Baton Account Manager Vince Schiavi, a new patrol car has been purchased and three new officers are being hired to combat speeding within the gates. Seven days a week from 7 a.m. one morning to 2 a.m. the next, an officer and car will be dedicated to putting the brakes on those who have ignored the law.
A new laser radar gun, like those used by the Sheriff’s Department, will aid officers in this endeavor. According to Vince, the radar device is very accurate and has the ability to pinpoint individual vehicles.
“There will be no mistakes,” says Vince.
According to Vince, drivers can be cited for traveling just one mile over the speed limit. However, in keeping with Sheriff guidelines, citations will be given to anyone going five mph or more over posted limits.
The enforcement will take place on Canyon Lake’s major streets, though residents with problems in other areas will be encouraged to contact Community Patrol for enforcement there as well.
