Lodge Tree Lighting Festival Sunday

Christmas activities and events in the community were limited last year with COVID-19 restrictions still in place. People are still being careful, but the events are back.

First up is the 39th Annual Tree Lighting Festival hosted by the Canyon Lake POA and the Canyon Lake Junior Women’s Club, at the Canyon Lake Lodge on Sunday.

The late afternoon and evening event consists of much more than just flipping the switch to light up the Christmas tree there. The area outside the Lodge will turn into a winter wonderland with a variety of free holiday entertainment and activities.

Festivities, which will take place between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., include face painters, ferris wheel ride, magic mirror photo booth, balloon animal creators, large petting zoo, LED toy vendor, food vendors and more. Family activities are free, except for the vendor and food booths.

The Canyon Lake Junior Women’s Club will be hosting its annual Christmas Donation Drive. Those attending the festival are encouraged to bring a new unwrapped and unopened toy to the Junior Women’s Club booth. The club will be distributing the toys to less fortunate children in the community and surrounding areas.

Raffle tickets will be given for every toy donated and a drawing for prizes will take place at 6:40 p.m. toward the conclusion of the festival.

The activities begin at 4:00 p.m. The free events include Gingerbread Bounce House, Ferris Wheel Ride, Face Painting, Balloon Animal Creators, Magic Mirror Photo Booth, Snow and Santa.

Additional activities are available including other booths and Food Booths and Food Truck including So Cheesy, S&B Catering and Carl’s Concessions.

Santa arrives at 5:30 p.m. riding in on a fire truck to lead the ceremonial tree lighting. Following the tree lighting, children are welcome to meet with Santa where parents can take photos (parents should bring their own cameras to take pictures).
