In Memoriam: Fred Dalby

Frederick Arthur Dalby passed away July 23, 2016. He was born April 26, 1923 in North Providence, Rhode Island to Clara (Rowley) and Fred Dalby. He was the youngest of five children.

In 1943, Fred enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in World War II. He married Grace Ruth Matteson in September 1948 and they welcomed their son, Alan, the following year.

Fred and Ruth moved to California in 1956, where he worked as a machinist. In 1978, they moved into their dream home in Canyon Lake and Fred kept busy by working as a security guard and as the Campground manager.

He also tackled projects big and small around the house and went on numerous camping trips with Ruth. Fred enjoyed boating on the lake, playing cards, and entertaining friends and family.

Fred is survived by Ruth, his loving wife of 67 years, son Alan of Menifee, granddaughters Laura (Danny) Ciesla of Jurupa Valley and Beth Dalby (Dominic DiLeva) of Riverside, and great-grandchildren Danae, Corrinne and Aidan Ciesla.

A memorial service was held at Miller Jones Mortuary on August 9. Burial at Riverside National Cemetery will happen at a later date.
