Yacht Club awards scholarship to Alexa McKee

At its June meeting at Roadrunner Park, the Canyon Lake Yacht Club awarded a $1,000 scholarship to life-long resident, Alexa McKee. Spokesperson Joanne Lee says the picnic atmosphere provided the perfect opportunity for the CLYC members to meet and interact with Alexa and her proud parents, Don and Delfina McKee.

“The Yacht Club members were impressed with Alexa’s accomplishments and community involvement,” says Joanne.

Alexa graduated from Temescal Canyon High School and plans to attend the University of California San Diego in the fall. Her interests include environmental sciences and teaching. Alexa has been an active volunteer at the Canyon Lake Library for many years and helps with the Summer Reading Program.

While at TCHS, Alexa was a member of the Debate and Dance Teams, Sophomore Class President and a member of both the National Honor Society and the California Scholarship Federation.

All residents, whether boat owners or not, are invited to join the Canyon Lake Yacht Club. For more information, visit clyc2014.webs.com/ or call Commodore Bob Templeton at 310-720-9315.
