Artists and residents enjoy ‘Art at the Lake’

The Senior Center turned into a huge canvas of colors and textures last weekend as artists from the Canyon Lake Art Association filled its walls with a variety of artwork for the viewing pleasure of the community. The “Art at the Lake” show was open to the public Saturday and Sunday, and included appetizers, live music and the chance to visit with artists.

There also was a silent auction and opportunity drawings, as well as the chance to win a portrait painted on the spot by Therese Daniels. Along with displaying their artwork, CLAA members enthusiastically contributed prizes for the auction and drawings. Contributing artists included Lori Gundrum, Joan Fakhoury, Marilyn Latimer, Joan Dietz and Ines Miller.

Show Chair Carol Davis provided the decorations, and Jarryd Ramborger provided the music on piano, guitar and harmonica.

Prizes included gift baskets, artificial floral arrangements, jewelry and artwork.

Winners of the opportunity drawing were Ines Miller and the Raj Lycan family. Silent auction winners were Ila Goldstein, Lori Gundrum, Joan Fakhoury, Marilyn Latimer, and Jane Lafferty.

The Canyon Lake Art Association welcomes new members. The Monday night ad-hoc painters meet each week from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Senior Center. Everyone is welcome.

General meetings are held at 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Senior Center and are open to the public. Guests are welcome to sit in on the monthly artist demonstrator. There are signup sheets at the general meetings for club members wishing to hang their work at the Senior Center, Pepe’s Restaurant and other CLAA events.

CLAA has painters, digital artists, photographers, ceramicists, sculptors, fusion glass artists, etc. Membership is for individuals 18 and older, but all are welcome to attend and bring their art to share.
