Family Matters Club has heart

370357347The Family Matters Club held its February meeting in the Activities Building at East Port Park on Monday, with members of all ages invited to enjoy a free spaghetti dinner and Valentine-themed crafts. The kids made handprint hearts and love bugs, along with “I love you to pieces” pictures for parents, grandparents and friends.

The next community event hosted by the Family Matters Club will be the second annual Glow Easter Egg Hunt on March 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Holiday Harbor. Everyone is invited for a night of games, prizes, food and fun, followed by a glow egg hunt for all ages.

The next Beach Clean-up Day is set for April 2. The club is looking for community volunteers to help clean the beaches. Spokesperson Jenny Teperson says, “We will have a station set up at several beaches with all the supplies needed. After clean-up, we will be providing lunch for all volunteers.”

Those interested in volunteering for any of these events, or students desiring community service hours, are invited to contact Jenny at 951-552-0055 or via the Canyon Lake Family Matters Facebook page.

The Family Matters Club is open to all residents, young and old, kids or no kids. Monthly meetings are held the first day of the month, unless otherwise noted, and revolve around a fun theme with speakers, games, prize drawings, crafts, snack and social time. Locations vary. The club puts on several events throughout the year to benefit the community and to raise funds for future events and provide philanthropic donations. For more information, visit the Family Matters Facebook page or call 714-394-4885.
