The Parade of Lights is just two weeks away

With Thanksgiving just past, Canyon Lakers are reminded that the Parade of Lights will be cruising through the lake in just two weeks, on Saturday, December 12. It’s scheduled to depart from East Port at 5:15 p.m.

Yacht Club Commodore Bob Templeton says, “That does not mean you need to panic if you were planning on putting your boat in the parade and have not gotten started yet. But it does mean that now is the time to get things going.”

It’s time to reserve, borrow or purchase a generator and lights. Planning for light placement and décor should also be undertaken now to take advantage of some of the sales that many of the local stores are having on holiday lighting and other holiday decorations.

The Yacht Club encourages boaters to fill out this form in advance and mail or deliver it to the address listed on the entry form. The entry form also may downloaded from the Yacht Club website at www.clyc2014.webs.com. Visit the photo gallery on the website to view last year’s parade entries and festivities.

“We hope to have a new record for entries this year, so start planning now to be a part of this exciting event,” says Bob.

Last minute entrants can sign up at the East Port launch ramp at 4:30 p.m. on the day of the parade. Those who are really late can join the parade by 5:15 or along the route and have some fun!

Boats that do not go through the registration process will not be eligible for the judging process and prizes, but are welcome to participate. Club and group floats are encouraged and welcomed.

Yacht Club Commodore Bob Templeton says, “The Yacht Club and the community are really looking forward to seeing your boat in this year’s parade! Get your boat ready and join in the fun!”
