This section provides information submitted by Canyon Lake clubs regarding activities and upcoming events. Information should be submitted to news@goldingpublications no later than 5 p.m. Monday.

Woman’s Club

The next meeting of the Woman’s Club is January 21. Lyne Hall, Ways & Means Chair, will present information about a new program called “Mermaids of the Lake.” Ladies are invited to come to the meeting in mermaid inspired outfits. The lunch menu includes a starter salad, teriyaki chicken and broccoli, carrots, celery, onions, pineapple and snap peas served over rice, and bread.

The Woman’s Club meets the third Wednesday of each month at the Lodge. It is a philanthropic organization dedicated to helping others in the community. The club also gives scholarships to local students to help them on their way to college. For more information, contact Membership Co-Chair Pam Oskey at 909-437-4468.

Art Association

The Art Association will have two speakers at its meeting on January 27, at 7 p.m. in the Senior Center. Michael Angel has spoken previously about purchasing art and many attendees asked if he would come back.

The second speaker is Jane Coscarelli of 1/4 Inch Publishing. She is a freelance artist who has combined her artistic talent and love of quilting to create 1/4 Inch Publishing. For the past 17 years, she has successfully designed and produced her product line of books, patterns, fabrics and notions. Among her many accomplishments is having her talents featured in the Steven Spielberg movie, “How to Make an American Quilt.”

Kids Club

After taking winter break, the Kids Club will start meeting again next week. Meetings are held every Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., in the Sunset Beach Room at the Lodge. Kids Club is a program in which young children and their parents or grandparents enjoy a morning of crafts, music, exercise, games, sports and a snack for just $2 per session. Travel Club

On February 5, at 7:30 p.m., members will travel to the La Mirada Theater to see “Billy Elliot, the Musical.” The cost is $94 for members; $99 for guests. Price includes show ticket, dinner (selection of which will be chosen on the bus), transportation and bus driver tip. Reservations are now open.

Save Thursday, February 26, for a an outing to the “American Trilogy Tribute Show,” celebrating Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Neil Diamond and Connie Francis. Lunch will be at Billy Reed’s Restaurant. This event is open for reservations and is $83 for members and $88 for guests.

Save the date for the Death Valley Trip on April 29 to May 1. It includes a guided tour of the valley and Scotty’s Castle with motor coach transportation; two-night stay at the Furnace Creek Ranch in Death Valley; and four meals, including lunch at the Pahrump Valley Winery.

Canyon Lake Association of Men

The next meeting of the Canyon Lake Association of Men (CLAMS) is set for January 21, at 6 p.m. at the Country Club. This year, the club will be donating to four Canyon Lake organizations and one outside group: Bassmasters, Yacht Club, Canyon Lake Emergency Preparedness Committee (CLEPC), Veterans Day Committee and Animal Friends of the Valleys (AFV). Pinochle Club

New members are welcome to join the Pinochle Club, which plays every Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Senior Center. For more information, call Marlys Shilling at 951-244-4241.

CLAWS

All Canyon Lake women are invited to attend the Canyon Lake Association of Women (CLAWS) group bunco on the second Wednesday of the month in the Magnolia Room, downstairs at the Country Club. The cost is $10 per player. Participants are asked to bring canned and packaged food for the community cupboard. Game begins at 3 p.m., please arrive 15 mins early to pick up game card and sign in. Twirler Square Dance Club

The Twirlers meet on Wednesday evenings in the Holiday Bay Room at the Lodge. There is a workshop for experienced dancers from 6:15 to 7 p.m. This is followed by the Twirlers Class from 7 to 9 p.m. with instructor Vic Kaarie. Former dancers are always welcome. Dress is casual. Tennis Club

The Tennis Club invites residents to come out for Social Play on Mondays and Fridays at 9 a.m. It is open to all levels of players and is a way to meet other players without committing to a schedule. For more information, contact Dave Harrigan at 951-746-3460 or davenjean@canyontennis.net.

Canyon Lake Junior Tennis League is on hiatus at this time.

Bible Club

The Canyon Lake Bible Club meets on Thursday evenings, at 7 p.m. at the home of Steve and Ruth Martin, 23409 Silver Strike Dr. in Canyon Lake. The group is using a Canyon Lake Community Church workbook and digging into the book of Romans. Please RSVP to 951-244-2438.

Water Ski Club

Residents interested in joining the Water Ski Club are invited to visit canyonlakeskiclub.com for membership forms, information and news about the club. The club is comprised of skiers of all ages and levels, from beginners to advanced. In addition to having 365 days of access to one of the nicest slalom courses in the country, the club hosts several ski competitions and community events, including Breakfast with Santa, Polar Bear Day, Learn to Ski Days and the Fiesta Day Ski Show.

Lioness Club

Lioness Bingo, managed by Nancy Coughlin and Barbara Jacobson, is held the first and third Sunday of each month, except December, in the Senior Center. Funds raised by bingo are contributed to Lions’ projects for the sight-impaired and the needy of the area. At times of national or world-wide disaster, the Lioness have contributed money through Lions Club International for humanitarian relief. Bosom Buddies

The Bosom Buddies mission is to educate, inspire and support newly diagnosed breast cancer patients during their breast cancer journey. Fitness and Triathlon Club

Car Club

The Car Club holds meetings the first Thursday of each month at the Lodge. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the general meeting at 6:30. Learn about upcoming events, listen to guest speakers and share automotive experiences. Finger foods will be served and a 50/50 drawing will round out the evening. Roadrunners

Roadrunners RV Club dinner meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month. Social hour begins at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6. There are about 115 members representing about 60 recreational vehicles in the club. In addition to the dinner meetings, the group takes between six and eight trips per year. Jr. Women’s Club

The JWC is a non-profit organization that sponsors several events each year to help fund its philanthropic efforts, focused mainly on raising money for the youth of the community, to providing assistance for families in need, providing local students with scholarship monies, providing safe playground equipment for area parks, and sponsoring children so that they may participate in activities such as sports, school activities and more.
