Toss it. Shred it. Donate it. Those are three options residents will have during events at two locations Saturday, April 21.
At the first location – the Canyon Lake Community Church parking lot – the City of Canyon Lake and CR&R will provide an opportunity to conveniently dispose of bulky items like e-waste, old furniture, appliances and more between the hours of 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
At the same time and location, the Library will host a fundraising Shred Day, and donations of kitty litter and other pet supplies will be accepted for Animal Friends of the Valleys, while jars of peanut butter and jelly will be accepted for "Backpacks for Kids."
At the second location – the Towne Center parking lot – the Canyon Lake Motorcycle Club will be accepting donations of food and pet supplies for Animal Friends of the Valleys between the hours of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Here are more details
During the Canyon Lake Library's fundraising Shred Day event, the cost to have a small box or grocery bag of documents shredded is $3. Proceeds will benefit children’s programming and materials at the Library.
Finally, the City encourages residents to bring jars of peanut butter and jelly to donate to HOPE “Backpacks for Kids.” Helping Our People Elsinore has identified children at local schools who would benefit from nourishment over the weekend. The backpacks (supplied by the School District) contain a rice casserole mix (funded by Rotary) together with additional protein foods (supplied by HOPE) and packed by Planet Youth volunteers. The kids pick up the backpack on Friday and return it empty each Monday. To date, HOPE has seen a 100 percent return rate.
Canyon Lake Community Church is located at 30515 Railroad Canyon Rd.
