Residents who have not already cast their ballots for this year's POA election will have one more opportunity to hear POA candidates Michelle Howard, Harold Larson, George Middle and David Eilers when the Home Owner Club holds its “Meet the Candidates Night” on Monday, April 23, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room at the Lodge. The meeting will be televised on Time Warner Channel 29 and Verizon Channel 39.
The candidates have had occasion to voice their positions on three questions posed by The Friday Flyer, as well as in candidate forums offered by the Chamber of Commerce and the Senior Committee.
At last Saturday's “Meet the Candidates Coffee” at the Senior Center, about three dozen residents enjoyed coffee and donuts before being given the opportunity by moderator Janine Schrufer to ask the candidates questions.
Included in the audience were POA Board members Larry Neigel and Sean McDonald, City Council members Barry Talbot and Nancy Horton, and many other community activists who take a keen interest in what goes on at the POA.
Questions dealt with community volunteerism, police and fire services, vandalism, proposed community building, community patrol, a change in the public comments portion of the Board agenda, Country Club and Lodge, motorcycles, the Forensic Committee's findings (when they would be announced), needed Lake improvements, a previous Board action regarding reserve funds and Michelle's employment under a previous CLPOA administration.
