As the weather warms, many Canyon Lakers start looking forward to the first community event of summer: Fiesta Day. Organizers say this year's Fiesta Day promises to be one of the best yet, so residents are invited to mark their calendars for Saturday May 26.
The day begins with the traditional Fiesta Day dignitary breakfast, followed by the parade through community streetsat 9 a.m. The parade ends in front of the Lodge, where residents and their guests are invited for a day of fun, food, music, entertainment and shopping. This year's theme will be "Country Good Times," with emphasis on Good Times, says DJ Mike Shroyer.
Along with food booths and vendor booths, The Silverados Band will be back to play a variety of Classic Country, Country Pop and Classic Rock. In the Holiday Bay Room, entertainment will be provided by The Amazing Dana the Magician, along with dance groups from all the top dance studios in the area.
New to this year's Fiesta Day, the Wakeboard Club will join with the Ski Club to put on a show off the shore of Sunset Beach. The petting zoo will be bigger, and the Kids' Fun Zone will be raffling off a bike to some lucky person, along with other great prizes. There also will be an apple pie baking contest and watermelon eating contest, with prizes to the winners.
