Poppa is a male, non-neutered miniature Pinscher/Dachshund mix. He is about 3 years old and is friendly and loving. Smokey is a domestic short-haired, spayed female, about 2 years old.

To adopt either of these pets, contact Animal Friends of the Valleys at 674-0618 and ask for intake number 151371 for Poppa or 150753 for Smokey.

Canned food needed

AFV continues to need canned food for puppies, kittens and older dogs and cats that are being brought to the shelter in high numbers. "Our seniors often have dental problems or no teeth at all and require soft diet," say AFV staff. "Wet food is also used to encourage traumatized animals to eat; puppies and kittens get additional fluid from wet food."

2012 Pet Calendar

The 2012 calendars are on sale now for $10 each. Pick one up at AFV. Every photo entered in this contest held earlier this year is included, either on the cover and monthly pages or in the collage pages. Proceeds go to help the homeless animals.

Residents can help save animals that would otherwise be put down by providing temporary housing. Information regarding the foster program, including an application and guidelines, can be found at the website.

AFV serves Canyon Lake and surrounding areas, offering animals for adoption as well as providing animal control services.
