Holiday Activities to enrich the season

The Torah Club will hold a lighting of the third candle for Chanukah on Thursday, December 22, at 5 p.m. at Tykes Italian Ices.

Golf Cart Parade

Hoping for a fun new holiday tradition, Street Carts of Canyon Lake is hosting a Christmas Parade and Toy Drive this evening December 16, at 7 p.m. on Canyon Lake Dr. North and South, concluding at the Lodge. All Canyon Lakers are welcome to decorate their carts with lights and decor and join the club for this inaugural event. Santa Claus will be handing out candy canes to the kids. Drivers are asked to show up at Blue Bird Hall by 6 p.m.

The whole community is welcomed to come out and view the parade between 7 and 8 p.m., especially those who live along the parade route. The parade will start at Blue Bird Hall and travel to East Gate and then to the Lodge. Street Carts is teaming up with HOPE (Helping Our People in Elsinore), so the club will be collecting unwrapped toys as a fee to enter the parade. A pickup truck also will be collecting unwrapped toys from residents along the parade route. Everyone is invited to come out and join the fun.

Christmas Gala at the Lodge

Those who would like to recognize the sacred meaning of the season are invited to the Canyon Lake Bible Club's third annual Christmas Gala at the Lodge on Saturday, December 17, at 7 p.m. The free event will feature a message about the meaning and history of Christmas by Pastor Gary Ennis of Lamb's Fellowship in Lake Elsinore and musical performances by the popular Children's Christmas Choir, vocalist Alexis Lozano and members of Crimson Crown.

Menorah Lighting

Chanukah, the Jewish festival of rededication, also known as the Festival of Lights, is an eight-day festival beginning on the 25th day of the Jewish month of Kislev. This year, Jews begin the celebration of Hanukkah with the lighting of the first candle of the menorah on December 20. The celebration will conclude December 28.

In Canyon Lake, the Torah Club will hold a lighting of the third candle for Chanukah on Thursday, December 22, at 5 p.m. at Tykes Italian Ices, next to the Canyon Lake Market. Everyone is invited.

'The Nutcracker'

The children's ballet production of “The Nutcracker” will be held December 18, at 5 p.m. at the Lake Community Center in Lake Elsinore, 310 W. Graham Ave.

Southwest Women's Chorus

The Southwest Women's Chorus is putting on its annual “Christmas in the Air” concert on tonight, December 16, at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, December 17, at 2 p.m. at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater, 42051 Main St. Music will include a mix of traditional carols, spirituals, classical works, sing-alongs and contemporary sacred and secular holiday songs.
