Canyon Lake is a wonderland of beauty and festivity at this time of year. But behind the scenes, there are those who continue to work on the business of the Association to bring about what they believe to be positive changes and improvements. The current POA Board has been seated six months, with Directors, staff and POA committees continuing to tackle serious issues.
The Board will hold a regular session meeting next Tuesday, at 7 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room – in spite of the fact that the Board of Directors has not held regular session meetings during the month of December for a number of years, if ever.
In this week's POA Business News, Treasurer Sean McDonald discusses some of the tough decisions that need to be made at the Lodge and Country Club to keep the Food and Beverage Department from continuously being over budget.
Next week, an ad hoc committee formed last summer will meet for its fifth month to discuss the feasibility of a new Public Safety Department. Such an in-house department could replace Allied Barton Community Patrol.
Ad hoc committees also have been meeting to review the Association's Rules and Regulations and to address safety and insurance concerns regarding the many modified street carts that cruise the community's streets.
Residents can look for the findings of these committees to be presented to the Board after the first of the year. Lots of changes may be in store.
